AL QAEDA has opened its first
official Twitter account, inspired by the "live" coverage from
terrorists who attacked a Kenyan shopping mall earlier this week.
Affiliated with an official, members-only al Qaeda website, the
arabic account is believed by US officials to be an attempt to overcome
an emerging political split involving rebels in Syria.
Most of the posts so far have focused upon divisions between al Qaeda factions in Syria, Iraq and the Levant.

Generic prisoner.

Mr Severin’s push to ban cigarettes may seem controversial, but it’s actually pretty dull compared to some of the harsh rules in other prisons around the world, especially those in Maricopa County, Arizona where inmates are ruled by the iron fist of controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Here is a selection of his rules, as well as some of the bizarre things going on in other world prisons.

SOMETIMES words just aren’t enough.
That was the case for the video producer Marina Shifrin, who quit her job in a hilarious “interpretative dance” video set to a Kanye West song.
Ms Shifrin, who worked for an animation company, snuck into her office at 4:30am to set up cameras before dancing her way around the place and overlaying a message on screen.
“For almost two years I’ve sacrificed my relationships, time and energy for this job and my boss only cares about quantity and how many views each video gets,” she wrote.
“So I figured I’d make ONE video of my own ...
“Oh and to let my boss know I QUIT”
Mystery Diana tapes reportedly offer advice to Kate Middleton

US magazine The Globe claims the tapes were made by Diana for her son because she feared for her life, a close friend said.
APES reportedly made by Princess Diana for William just months before her death reportedly urged him and his future wife to cherish their children and warned marriage in the public eye was hard.
Lana Marks, who designed handbags for Princess Diana, had the content read to her and said it sounded similar to what the pair had discussed about her future hopes for William.
“I knew Diana very well during the last 18 months of her life. Diana discussed with me in great detail what she wanted for William in terms of a wife, children — what she wanted for his future,” the Daily Mail reported.
“When I hear the contents of the tape, they echo what she discussed with me in great detail. It is uncanny.”
The Princess also reportedly advised her future daughter-in-law that public life was tough and it was vital she worked on her marriage to survive the pressure.
According to The Globe, Diana thought her son’s future bride would be beautiful, smart and independent.
Ms Marks said Diana even predicted her oldest son would marry someone with dark hair.
Kensington Palace has so far declined to comment on the existence of the tapes.

Fixes for your Apple iOS 7 problems
Apple has released a fix for iOS 7.
Over the past week news.com.au has been flooded with hundreds of emails from Apple users struggling to overcome the many bugs that seem to plague the new iOS 7 operating system.
The update isn’t huge - it’s only 21MB in size - but it’s likely to take care of a number of problems.
Primarily it is designed to fix a major system vulnerability that allows access to things like Siri, your contact lists, call history and voicemail all while the phone is still locked.
The update is unlikely to cause the same god awful instal issues that users experience with the first iOS 7 release.
So before you try to fix your issues by following some of the below suggestions, first install the update for iOS 7, called iOS 7.0.2.
To do this go into Settings > General > Software Update. Your device will then search for an update if it’s not already there > tap Download and Install.
This will hopefully take care of most if not all of your problems.
If not, fear not. There are two guides at news.com.au which can help you.

If you’re not one to get your hands dirty while on vacation, you might want to steer clear of these top five ‘germiest’ attractions, as polled by TripAdvisor.
1. Blarney Stone, Blarney Castle, Ireland: Local legend has it that visitors who bend over backwards to kiss the stone built into Blarney Castle are rewarded with eloquent speech. But, given that more than 400,000 people pucker up to the stone each year, we’re guessing you’d end up with a little more than just the ‘gift of the gab’.
2. Gum Wall, Seattle, Washington: People have been sticking their unwanted chewing gum to a wall outside Seattle’s Market Theatre since 1990. It all started as a last-ditch effort by theatregoers to get rid of their gum while waiting in line. Today, it’s a 50ft-long wall covered from floor to ceiling in brightly coloured, sweetly smelling chewie.
